IRISH FILM FESTIVAL

The Jameson, Irish Film Board, Irish Film Institute and International Film Festival «Molodist» are pleased to present the Irish Film Fest 2012, featuring for your viewing enjoyment, the best selection of award winning Irish films. This years festival will be dedicated to Saint Patrick's Day and will start on March 15, with the film “My Brothers”, directed by Paul Fraser. Written by William Collins, the film is the story of three young brothers epic quest to replace their dying father's beloved watch over the Hallowe'en weekend of 1987. The film stars Timmy Creed, Paul Courtney and TJ Griffin, as well as a supporting cast including Kate Ashfield, Don Wycherley, Sarah Green and Eamonn Hunt.

LVIV FASHION WEEK

From March 27 to April 01, 2012, Lviv Fashion Week will take place for the ninth time. For six days fashion conscious Lvivites and guests of the city will be appraising numerous collections from over 30 Ukrainian and foreign designers.

“THE LORD OF THE RINGS” CONCERT

The “Cantabile Orchestra” together with the “Dnipro” chior will be presenting a special project featuring “The Lord of the Rings” with compositions by Howard Shore - a Canadian composer, notable for his film scores. He has composed the scores for over 80 films, most notably the scores for 'The Lord of the Rings' film trilogy, for which he won three Academy Awards.

X MUSIC FESTIVAL “RUINACIA” (DESTRUCTION),

«Ruinacia» is considered to be one of the most popular Western Ukrainian closed format music festivals, with its motto “Listen to own music – choose own music”. During its ten year legacy, the festival has become an enjoyable tradition not only for Leopolitans, but for music lovers from all over Ukraine. Each year the numbers attending the festival have increased proving the popularity of the event. The main idea of the festival is to demolish old stereotypes of everyday, routine life. An extremely creative dialogue encouraging the birth of new ideas, wishes and emotions is usually created between the musicians and the audience. Music is the main medium through which people can receive inspiration to reach their goals and fulfill non material dreams.

EASTER EGG FESTIVAL IN LVIV

Easter is still four weeks away but Lvivites and guests of the city will soon have a chance to see some beautiful eggs and learn about a centuries-old art form as Lviv will host the Festival of Pysanky (decorated eggs) on March 15- April 22, 2012. This year the traditional eggs will be substituted with egg-shaped figures made of flowers, branches, air balloons, polyester, wood, and even chocolate.

VAKARCHUK’S SOLO ALBUM “BRUSSEL”

Sviatoslav Vakarchuk is both lead singer and front man for Okean Elzy, Ukraine's best-known rock group in recent years. The child of an academic family, Vakarchuk received a schooling that was rich in music, but ultimately he went on to follow his father's footsteps and became a physicist. This leaning towards academia would last until the mid-90s, before his early passion for music once again came to the fore. Okean Elzy was born in 1994 and over the following decade have become increasingly popular not only in Ukraine but right across Europe.

VIII UKRAINIAN INVESTMENT SUMMIT

The Ukrainian Investment Summit held in the English capital is recognized as one of the largest investment gatherings outside of Ukraine worldwide. The summit aims to provide an independent and objective platform for the discussion of Ukraine’s macroeconomic outlook and to identify ways to improve the country’s investment climate. The Summit is taking place just weeks before Ukraine co-hosts the Euro-2012 football tournament, but also takes place against a backdrop of global financial turmoil and growing frustration at the pace of economic reform domestically.

Sonya Sotnik at “PICASSO CLUB”

Sonya Sotnik, was born in Lviv in 1975. After graduation she began a career as a radio presenter. During almost 14 years of working for commercial radio stations, Sonya Sotnik worked as a DJ, radio station manager and even* couch of “Internews-Ukraine” courses.

Gold Spring in Lviv 1–4 March, Palace of Arts (17, Kopernika street)
