Issue 24, May 2010.

Ancient Lviv is a favourite subject of tourist industry and hospitality sector entrepreneurs in Lviv and this coming festival will offer a feast of knights and brave  maidens from a bygone era of chivalry and serfdom. Highlights will include violently realistic historical reconstructions and the popular ‘don’t cut that plait!’ contest, where beautiful young Lviv ladies compete to see who has the longest hair. The event will be held at Lviv’s authentic open air architectural museum, which will be transformed into a medieval town for the occasion. Guests will be able to sample medieval food and drink while practicing archery and other ancient arts and crafts. Music will be provided by Kyiv’s Yoghurt band and Lviv’s appropriately named  ‘Kings and Beggars’.
