Lviv Art Palace & Centre for Central and Eastern European Urban History There is something a little bit different about Switzerland. At a time when most of Europe is seemingly marching obliviously towards the creation of a federal EU superstate, the Swiss remain an isolated island of local level community politics and national referendums. This uniqueness of Switzerland extends to its creative endeavours, and in a homogenised global marketplace Swiss quirkiness is increasingly being seen as an asset. This series of Swiss science fiction movies is part of broader efforts by the Swiss Arts Council to promote contemporary Swiss movie-making and is likely to attract an enthusiastic audience of Lviv kino connoisseurs. Films to be screened in Lviv are a compilation of titles from the past two years of the annual Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival. There will be two evenings of screenings, one week apart. The opening night of the festival will be held on February 8 at Lviv Art Palace (17 Kopernika Street), with screenings beginning at 19.00. The second and closing evening of Swiss kino will be on February 12 at 18.00 at the Center for Eastern and Central European Urban History (6 Bohomoltsa Street).
