Ukraine’s finest snow and ice sculptors gathered in Lviv on January  5 for a seasonal arts initiative that created snow and ice artworks  outside the city’s celebrated Dzyga Gallery. Ukrainian artists Orest  Dzyndra (Lviv), Sergiy Klapetura (Vinnitsa) and Petro Romanyk  (Kyiv) will all be representing the nation at the February 1-9 Festival  of Snow Sculpture in Canada’s Quebec province, and they presented  their planned sculptural designs to the Lviv public. Meanwhile, ice  artist Myroslav Dedyshyn presented his angel, which is destined to fly  all the way to the annual Crystal Garden ice sculpture contest in the  Canadian capital Ottawa, which will run from February 6 until February  22. Despite that fact that Canada is home to one of the world’s  largest Ukrainian diaspora which maintains close links to the modern  Ukrainian state, this will be the first time that Ukrainian artists have  participated in these two venerable Canadian winter art carnivals.
