LVIVSKE BEER CELEBRATES LVIV DAYS WITH LIVE SCULPTURES
Lviv celebrated its 754th birthday on May 10 with a host of fun and colourful events including an interactive journey through the ages courtesy of Ukraine’s oldest beer brand. Guests at the Lvivske Beer supported celebrations enjoyed sunny refreshments in a number of designated beer gardens while sampling a wide variety of musical accompaniments including a star turn from legendary Ukrainian rocker Oleh Skrypka and his new Jazz Cabaret ensemble. Other fun elements of the holiday included master classes in the art of medieval dance, with experts in period costume offering top tips on the most popular dance styles of the Middle Ages. However, the highlight of the holiday was surely the Live Sculpture festival, which was held for the first time ever in Ukraine. Living sculptures dressed in costumes from across Lviv’s 754-year history and painted in metallic gold, silver and bronze sauntered around Lviv’s city centre and posed with holiday makers in what was a highly original and unique celebration of the city’s rich cultural heritage. This jolly celebration was also designed to promote a culture of sensible alcohol consumption in line with new legislation aiming to curb anti-social and underage drinking. The Director of Lvivska Brewery, Oleksandr Rudnev, commented on the event: “Lviv is an extraordinary centre of culture and so it is only natural that Lvivske Beer, which has a three hundred year old tradition in the city, should play a leading role in promoting a sensible beer-drinking culture. To mark the city’s 754th birthday we decided to emphasize the need to celebrate responsibly.”
