Ice art in midwinter Lviv
On January 17 as the country was going to the polls in the first round of presidential elections, Leopolitans enjoyed a more civilized distraction in the shape of wonderfully sculpted and impressively imposing ice sculptures. The works, which were located in and around Lviv’s
old town historic centre, were the work of a Polish-Ukrainian snow sculpture symposium. With much of Ukraine experiencing the pitfalls and problems of unprecedented snowfall, Ukraine’s culture capital Lviv was, perhaps fittingly, the only place where the current ice age was given an artistic interpretation.
